Concrete Tent
Concrete Tent
The Concrete Tent, designed by Alessandro Petiti of DAAR Architecture, was a captivating installation at the Sharjah Architecture Triennial. Located in the eerie yet intriguing Al Madam, a ghost village in the UAE, this installation offered a unique juxtaposition of modern architecture within a historical context. My filming experience of this project was both inspiring and enriching. The Concrete Tent stands as a striking example of how contemporary design can engage with and reflect its surroundings. The installation's raw, minimalist concrete structure contrasts with the surrounding desert landscape and abandoned village, creating a thought-provoking dialogue between the old and the new. The film captures the essence of this contrast, showcasing the Tent's innovative design and its integration into the ghost village's desolate environment. Filming on site involved detailed exploration of the installation’s intricate design and its impact on the landscape. The project’s atmosphere, combined with the historical and cultural significance of Al Madam, made for a compelling visual narrative. This film not only highlights the Concrete Tent’s architectural prowess but also immerses viewers in the surreal beauty of its setting.
